WiFi is a technology that allows for networking capabilities without physical cables.

For a connection to be made over WiFi there must be

  • WiFi Access Point
    • Modem
    • Routers
  • WiFi Client
    • Computers
    • Laptops
    • Mobile Phones / Tablet
    • Printers

 

A WiFi Access Point will broadcast a Network Name (SSID) for Clients to connect.

WiFi Access Points can be password protected to increase security of your network and is recommended.

 

Connecting to a Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network

Connecting to a wireless network using a device of your choice is quick and easy.

In this guide, let’s see how to connect your device (for example a personal computer, MacBook, tablet, iPad, phone etc.) wirelessly to the internet.

Things you'll need

 

Before you begin you’ll need the following to connect to a wireless network:

  • Your WiFi ready device you wish to connect to your modem.
  • Your WiFi username and password.

 

 

Are you using a Dodo Auto Setup modem?

Your modem will have a preconfigured secure Wi-Fi connection ready to use, you can find the unique Wi-Fi Network Name (WiFi SSID) and Network Key (WiFi Password/WLAN Key) on the label at the back of your modem.

 

All you’ll need to do is to search for the Wi-Fi Network Name (WiFi SSID) in your wireless networks list on your device and connect to it using the WiFi Password.

 

Please refer to the example below of what the modem’s wireless details may look like.

 

 

Are you using your own modem?

Most new modems will have the unique WiFi Network Name (WiFi SSID) and Network Key (WiFi Password) on the label at the back of your modem, if not then you may use the modem's setup guide or user manual for more information.

 

Connecting your WiFi device.

Once you have the WiFi details of your network and your device ready, simply select the operating system of your WiFi capable device and follow the steps for your operating system.

 

 

Connect to WiFi with Windows 10

  • On your computer, click on the Wireless Networks icon in bottom right-hand corner on the system tray. This will bring up a list of available connections.

  • Select the Dodo labelled SSID that matches and click Connect.
  • You’ll be prompted for the network security key for accessing the wireless network. Once you have typed in your security key, click Next.

  • Windows will now try to authenticate the security key and connect you to the wireless network. Click OK to finish.
  • Once successfully connected, go ahead and start browsing. Your computer should remember your password for you from now on.

 

 

Connect to WiFi with MAC OSX

  • On the upper right-hand corner of your screen, click on the WiFi icon and click again to turn it on. This will bring up a list of available WiFi networks. Find the network that matches the SSID on the back of your modem that you wish to connect to.

  • You’ll now be prompted for a password for accessing the wireless network.
  • Enter your WiFi Password and then tick Remember this network to ensure your computer remembers your password for you from now on. Click OK to finish.

  • Once successfully connected you may start browsing.

 

 

Connect to WiFi with iOS

  • In settings, turn on your WiFi and once the available networks appear, find the network that matches the SSID on the back of your modem.

  • Once prompted, enter the Password or WLAN Key from the back of your modem and click Join.

  • Once successfully connected you may start browsing.

 

 

Connect to WiFi with Android

  • In settings, turn on your WiFi to see the list of available wireless networks, and find the network that matches the SSID from the back of the modem.

  • Once prompted, enter the Password or WLAN Key from the back of your modem and click Ok.

  • Once successfully connected you may start browsing.
