Warwick/Vereinigtes Königreich 2006

Vereinigtes Königreich/Warwick Culture and study trip 2006

Warwick is nice little town with one of the most famous castles. I went to Warwick with my university. This was probably the cheapest way to go there. I think I paid around 25 pounds. The entry to Warwick itself usually already costs around 15 pounds. A train from Birmingham to Warwick and return probably costs even more than 25 pounds.

Anyway, Warwick castle is a great place to go. It is an old medieval castle. In the castle you can see many wax figures in old customes. They illustrate the people who used to live and work there. This makes it even more interesting and makes it easy to picture what it used to be like in the medieval times.

Very beautiful are the green lawns around the castle. From time to time there are shows in the garden. I saw how an old huge catapult used to work. Four people had to run in a very large wheels to make the catapult work. They placed a stone on the catapult and shot it far away. I was told that they used to bombard castles and houses with catapults like that in the Middle Ages. I was also told the disgusting fact, that they did not always use stones or similar ammunition but cut of heads.
