Snowboarding trip

Republik Österreich/Altenmarkt im Pongau 2008

After two years, I finally saved up enough money and decided to go to Austria for a snowboarding trip with my family. After almost 12 hours of driving from Poland, we finally arrived in Altenmarkt at our hotel. I noticed quickly that there was no snow around us, and I was afraid that we would not have any at the top of the mountain either. The first day of snowboarding was horrible. It was raining and the snow was so wet that it was impossible to get any speed and every fall meant that you were getting wetter and wetter. The second day was just the opposite. The sun was blazing, and we were snowboarding with open jackets, but again we were snowboarding on wet snow. At this point, I began to lose hope and thought that our trip would be ruined by bad conditions, but on the third day, I woke up and saw snow everywhere! This was a beautiful day to snowboard, even though it was snowing the whole day. Because of freezing temperatures, the snow was deep and fresh all day, and there were almost no skiers on the trails. We had this weather for two days! It couldn't have been better. The last day was sunny and warm again, but every one was already so tired, that we spent most of the time in the lodge relaxing. We were very lucky with the weather conditions, because it could have been a lot worse, and at least I was able to be on the mountain snowboarding all of the six days I was there. I have a plan for my next snowboarding trip though, and that is to work out before hand, because it is now three days after the trip, and my muscles are still sore! But it was worth all the pain!
