DeutschBundesrepublik Deutschland/Lychen Adventure travel 1996
We went on horseback from Gorinsee, Schönwalde (which is very close to Berlin) up to Lychen, Uckermark. It took three all-day-long trailrides to get there. I have to look up what the distance exactly is, someday ;-)
For me that's the best way of traveling! - even though it takes you quite some time to get to places that aren't really far away. That really proves the saying: "The journey itself is the destination." !
Our luggage was always taken to the next resting place so we didn't need to take extra horses for that. There were about 7 of us including few kids. It was really nice to simply enjoy the nature while riding slowly and then again have tons of fun while galloping the horses across endless meadows.
Lychen was the "final" destination of our long trailride. We stayed for 3 days at a little farm there, before we went back home. Those three days were really fun. We camped next to the shore of a lake and went swimming a lot - so the horses could rest :-) Of course we went on short rides also, mostly without any saddles so we could take the horses to go swimming with us. It feels funny once the horse starts to swim.
