Berlin is one of the best places in the world to party. Start out at the bars for some cocktails before you go out for the night. The Taboo Tiki Room, Maybuchufer 39, is a cool Hawaiian-themed bar with inventive drinks. Try the classic Astrobar, Simon-Dach-Strasse 40, for a nice atmosphere with computer games and billards in the back. Kumpelnest 2003, used to be a brothel and still has some uninhibited action going on today if you are lucky.

The most well-known club in Berlin is the techno-themed Berghain, Wrienzer Banhof, for infamous parties that last well into the next day. Catch famous live DJ's at Le Weekend Club, Alexander Platz 5. Kaffee Burger, Torstrasse 60, is the best club for alternative and rock music. Check listings for their Russian Disco Night.

Shopping

To meet all of your shopping needs in Berlin head to the Hackerscher Markt, S Bahn stop Hackescher Market. They have some of the newest designers along with all of the big names. For all things alternative head to Fredrichshain and Kreuzberg. For the trendiest underground wear around try Wuhlischstrasse where you will also find some great second-hand shops.

Events

Don't miss the International Film Festival Berlin in February for some of the most cutting-edge and artistic movies on the scene. Check summer listings to see if the famous Love Parade will be going on during the summer.

Tours

A nice way to get to know Berlin a little bit better is to take a boat tour down the Spree with Spreekrone Tour Company, 349 95 95, which will show you many of the city's main attractions including the Reichstag and the Tiergarten.
