Egypt/Lake Baikal Abenteuerreise 2004
During a Russian backpacktrip I had arranged to meet 3 Dutch friends in Irkutsk. They had the company of 2 Russian friends from Krasnoyarsk, as I came directly from Moscow. We all would visit a kind of camping place on the shore of Lake Baikal, about 300 km away from Irkutsk, where many Russians from Irkutsk and Bratsk take some holiday for a week. We slept in little wooden houses with only a bed inside. We got 4 meals a day with many fish dishes. The price was about 15 dolars a day. There was a shower, but only the temparature of the sun could make the water temperature in the reservoir bearable. See the pictures on - www.arnoldonline.nl/baikal_eng.html -. The weather was fantastic that week, and we did some excursions to island Olhon, icecaves and a boat trip on Lake Baikal of course.
