Hi all!

Finally we have decided on a winner of the travel grant. We received loads of extraordinary applications—which made it very hard for us—but in the end we found a traveller who really deserves it.

And the winner is: Anthony Asael!

Anthony has been travelling around the world for more than 3 years now—steadily changing time zones and circling the globe! However, the purpose of his travels are not only self gratification and pleasure. With his non-profit organisation, “Art in All of Us,“ Anthony promotes artistic creativity and multicultural awareness to children in all 192 countries of the world. The current programs he is involved in incorporate drawing, poetry and photography. Inspiring children around the world is central to their mission.

You will be able to read more about Anthony’s exciting itinerary—encompassing many off-the-beaten-path destinations—on dodo.com. He will be frequently updating his travelogues and photos with new pictures and information and we look forward to sharing his experiences. Be sure to check it out!

On the 1^st of September, 2008, a grant of no more than $7,500 will be awarded for the most extraordinary travel plans. Until the 28^th of August, all travelers planning on taking a trip to an exotic land can apply on dodo.com.

Please write us a comment, with a link to the travelogue of your planned travel, and explaining to us, and all the other members, why your trip is so special and deserving of the travel grant.

We would also like to know how you plan on reporting about your experiences on dodo.com—while traveling. Apart from travelogue entries and photos, you may also add video diaries or tell other dodo.com members about your adventures via a live chat. So be creative!

If you speak English and German you can add, if not already done so, the languages under “my languages” in your profile settings. This way you will not only see user entries in one language - according to the chosen site language - but both currently available languages (English and German).

When you are logged out, you can swap between German and English but you will only find travel tips, travelogue entries and videos in the selected language. As our language feature is completely new, there is the inevitable possibility that problems may arise. If that is the case, please let us know via our problem box.

Your travelogue entries will now be automatically in order according to your travel dates. More importantly, you can create your travel route - on your travel map - by entering new locations for each of your travelogue entries. Last but not least, you can now maximize the map by pressing on the max button. Try it and enjoy it! More features are coming soon.

You can now search for members, places, sites and much more. And, even more
important, you will be able to find what you are looking for. Well,
most likely. If not, I guess, you haven’t invited enough friends who
have been to the places you are looking for.

You may have wondered why it took us so long to come up with a search
function. Well, it was complicated.

Check it out and tell us what you think! You can, for example, write a
comment directly to this blog entry or if there are still any bugs please
use our problem box on the bottom of each dodo.com site.

We are very happy to see that dodo.com is becoming more and more popular. We would, however, be even happier if all new members would upload a profile picture. We feel this is the best way to begin actively participating in our community. All new member who have uploaded a profile picture will be shown on the main page - under new members.
